I reviewed Marci’s new LP for the team. Go read it, or not, either way this shit should be in your music media players until it gets hot like the sun is out again.

Top 3 tracks right now: 76, Tek to A Mack, Peru

Meat Guns, Weed Brownies, and Riesling: Our Conversation With Roc Marciano
Next week, Roc Marciano will release his exceptional new album, Reloaded. It’s a fitting success for Roc Marcy, who used to count himself a part of Busta Rhymes’ Flipmode Squad and then the Pete Rock-endorsed group The UN before achieving solo acclaim for 2010’s Marcberg album. Tapping into Roc Marcy’s Twitter account, here he explains away the idea of a “meat gun,” his crush on Sheila E, and why he’s diggin’ Earl Sweatshirt’s rap. [READ MORE]

JET LUGGAGE - GRENEBERG (ROC MARCI + GANGRENE [ALCHEMIST & OH NO])

Late last year one of the pleasant surprises was Gangrene’s Gutter Water LP. Full thoughts here: http://potholesinmyblog.com/album-review-gangrene-gutter-water/#disqus_thread

One of the first thoughts that came to mind when i finished listening was, damn P would sound great over production like this. In a way Al & Oh No do better bringing Roc Marciano into their deranged city slop sonic circus. This shit is grimey. Full length project is dropping July 19th

SPOTTED @ PIMB

10: ROC MARCIANO - MARCBERG
The innanet sites I troll around in gas’d Roc Marciano’s Marcberg somethin’ serious. One would think Illmatic just got made if the buzz told it. Maybe that’s an over statement, but hearing “Raw Deal” for the first time was like being transported to 1995: Lo-fi recording, high-quality loop, dusty drums, and the sound of an emcee who actually put some time into his rhymes. After months of searching for a physical copy, even the sacred Amoeba didn’t have, I resorted to an iTunes download. Outside of HIGO, Marcberg is the most cohesive front to back album of the year. Yeah some tracks drag on a minute too long, and Roc’s impressionistic phrasing rap style ain’t for er’body, but this is no bullshit street rap. It has such a gully mood and insular atmosphere, Marcberg makes me wanna punch muthafuckas in they face just for livin’ when hearing it. “Niggaz ain’t G no more, they like swag”, no doubt.
